In not so sunny sussex i was planning on doing the following tomorrow;

Plant rest of spring garlic and onion setts

Yes, but check the carrot seed packet for correct sowing times. Not all carrot seeds are sown now. I mix spring onion seed with my carrot seed  :D

I would be wary of sowing anything outside at the moment as there is a major cold spell forecast to start early next week and it could go on for a while, so you may want to wait a couple of weeks. I doubt you will get carrots germinating in 2-5C daytime maxes and severe night frosts.

But the onion sets will be ok?
I was hoping to get mine in this weekend along with some (rather late) garlic.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Onion sets will be OK, but it's not a good time for seeds.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Have you seen the weather forecast?....snow, ice, blue maps!!
I still have not planted anything in the allotment. The soil is far too cold. That does't mean nothing growing- Broad bean  and onion have germinated, shallots have taken root, toms are 6" tall and  I have 1 dozen potato plants. I will be digging more potato trenches.

ive only managed to get broad beans in. I was all geared up for putting onions in this weekend but the rain has made the ground so wet it is too sticky to plant them. Im going to put them in modules and in then into the greenhouse until the ground dries up a bit.

I was hoping the media hype around the snow would not come to fruition, in any case at work now wathcing the rain lash down, garlic and onions will have to wait another day.  Snow now forecast for Monday!

Can't decide what to do about my onion seedlings. This time last year, they were hardening off outside in the daytime by now, but I don't know if that's a good idea with this old spell. But if I don't they're going to get a bit leggy and droopy if I keep them indoors. Could put them in the tunnel, but that's a long way from frostproof
