Glue for broken terracotta pot
« on: March 01, 2013, 16:04 »
I have a particular long terracotta pot that cost a few quid, well it came with a grapevine in it. It's such a nice pot that has hit the floor and broken in too I would like to know a glue that would repair it for summer use at least ?

Thanks.

Gorilla glue would probably be a good bet for you too. It is available from many outlets.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I wonder if that Araldite product is still available at other outlets?

I had a terracotta urn develop a large crack in it about 7 years ago. I drilled several holes either side of the crack about 1/2 inch away from it, and then laced it together with copper wire I had stripped from the inside of some wire used for domestic wiring.
The copper wire has now left an attractive stain on the pot adding to the obvious repair. I think it looks quite unique.

Thanks. I have have some Araldite but didn't think it would work for clay. I used to have some Gorilla Glue I bought from Lakeland years ago. Good stuff but expensive. It eventually set hard inside the bottle so it was a bit of a waste of money.
