Spuddy advice
« on: February 28, 2013, 18:59 »
I've just got a multi-variety pack of seed potatoes from mr.fothergills.

They consist of a variety of early, second early and 2 main crops.

I know I need to chit the earlys now, but do I store the others for now and chit later? Or chit them all now and put in the ground at the same time as the earlys.

Sorry if its a silly question, I've never grown potatoes before!

Thanks in advance.  ::)

That's the right way to do it  ;)

Chit them all at the same time, now in a light, cool but frost free place, then plant them all out at the same time where you are probably from mid-March - so quite soon. They mature at different speeds: first early from about 12 weeks, second early 16-18 weeks, maincrop about 20 weeks on..

Cool, thanks!  I'd better find some containers! I have loads!  :wacko:

:) all one actually went in one tray, so I didn't need as much room as I thought.
