Mine (what are left) are now living on the draining board in a box - Next year I'm not buying any until mid to late February so I don't have the storage problem again

The only reason I can think of for wanting to delay the start of chitting is shortage of space to actually chit them (or a serious lack of brownie points in your bank account with respect to negotiations with your OH!)

I have a different problem. I am out of the country from March-June but still want my spuds when I get back.

I was intending planting them immediately before i go and was trying to 'hold them back' a bit so that they didn’t poke their heads up into a late frost when I wasn’t there to care.

Is this a plan or should i start getting used to the idea of a year without ladyC and pink fir  :(

A lot of the OBs on our plots plant them deep and ridge them up straight away - it takes them a long while to grow up to the top, by which time the worst frosts are usually over and done with ;) Good luck!

I got some of my seed potatoes this morning.  :D

2.5K each of Desiree and Pentland Javelin. Just waiting on some Kestrel now from the hut on our site.

I'm chitting them in the kitchen in modules, some on a shelf beside the door and some near window.

They should be ok there, shouldn't they?
