Seed Potatoes, Leicestershire
« on: December 29, 2012, 12:58 »
Hello all,

I've made some enquiries with my local nursery as to when they will have their seed spuds in. They are getting some deliveries in now, but most are expected towards the end of January.

They will take an order via the phone for you to pick up, but suggest you leave it a week or so to make sure that they receive what they have ordered.

The prices are the same as last year, £1.50 a kilo, for orders under 10 kilos, £1.25 for orders above that weight. It may be worth a bit of petrol money even if you are a bit of a distance away to save the postage and to get a good selection.

I have no connection with the nursery, so I can post this info here, the address is Brookside Nurseries, 129 Cropston Rd., Anstey, tel 0116 2365464.

This is what they hope to have in:

That is an excellent selection. As you say, for those not too far away, worth using a bit of fuel to save on postage and get the one(s) of your choice. :)

wow that is a fantastic selection. Haskins will no doubt be charging a fiver a bag.

The b&q deal sounds good that's about the size packs I'll need.

I brought a bag of heritage Shetland black spuds to have for tea and they were so good I'm going to have to try growing them.

Thanks for that DD. I use Brookside a lot and have always been very happy with them. I didn't even realize that they got potatoes in though, so I shall definitely be getting some. :)
