Sneezing, and gaping, is it a cold?
« on: November 13, 2012, 16:17 »
Hi,
I recently got a new hen, (Rosie) to accompany my one remaining older hen (Strawberry). On the second day I noticed the new one was gaping so I wormed them with flubenvet on their food for 7 days as per instructions on the pot.

A week after that I noticed my old hen gaping one day and then sneezing the next. She seems generally well though.

Should I be worried? They free range and eat layers pellets.

Bev

you may need to take them to a vet - the new hen could have bought an infectious respiratory illness with her and they will need treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic if this proves to be the case.
Staffies are softer than you think.
