Raspberries and Currants
« on: October 07, 2012, 20:46 »
I have raspberries and currants on my plot.  Both have quite a bit of space between them as the books all recommend.  However, it is a job in itself just to keep these vacant areas free of weeds.  I was wondering if anyone has good tips on how they keep this space free of weeds?  Do you under plant with anything, or do you just keep hoeing?

Mulch or weed suppressant fabric would also work.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I mulch between them and then just move the old mulch on to the compost heap after a while.I do keep the ground clear over the winter though so that I can feed in spring and the roots get the benefit and any perennial weeds can be delt with
