Penistone Farmers Market (Saturdays)
« on: November 18, 2007, 17:12 »
Hiya folks!

I wondered if anyone knew whether Penistone market is still on Saturday mornings? I've heard some say it is, some it isn't...I tried to google it to no avail.

Does anyone know too whether Selby auctions are still Monday and what time they start, if they're on at the mo?

Thanks loads in advance!

Lucy  :D

Weeeellll..I am, Ness, didn't give Si chance to answer  (seeing as I never asked, hee hee!)

We are hopefully getting a couple of pekin bantams, and I just fancied a look at what there is at the auctions to see if I can get Si giddy about them too.

It's chaos here with mud and poo and straw. He likes the chickens, but he's not best pleased at the mo seeing as he has thrown his slippers away (they were covered in chicken bab) and there's wet straw all over the garden. We're getting some bark chippings instead though, just looking for the cheapest ones at the mo.

We're still getting 2/3 eggs a day from 3 chickens though. Try making lots of cakes and hinting at how many more you could make if you could only get a few more eggs

Or as Happy Valley said, just get them and pretend you 'found' them (or 'rescued' them even more of a reason to keep them)

Good luck!!!!  :D

He He.  When I brought the ex batts home I was under strict instructions to just get 2 (we've only a small garden).  Well you know how it is I couldn't say know when the rehoming lady asked if i'd take another.

I didn't tell other half just let them out in garden, she noticed though a few hours later when putting out washing, and I thought i'd get away with it.

eeh! She wasn't best pleased.  But they're still there.

But 5 really is the max I can manage (already had Daisy & Polly), well that is until another cute chuck comes along, sneak her in somehow.

Anyway now I have no "lawn" left, just mud so I reckon we are going to cover back garden with bark chip.

Oooh such good tips for getting more!  And pekins are soo cute!  My grumpy oh is still whinging about the poo BUT I do "poo pick" every day and its so good for the compost.  The fact they aren't laying doesn't help (2 are too young and mother hen is having rest   ) so I reckon he'll like them more if they are producing!
My cunning plan is if one of the girls goes broody next year to let her hatch a few eggs and then have to keep one (it would be so good for the kids  ).  Mr grumpy has shown an interest in silkies, I think they are good comedy value (apologies to any silkie owners :D ).
I love the suggestion of "finding" them, he wouldn't fall for that!
Sorry still no help with your market question.
Ness
Ps got the girls on bark chippings and find them a good flooring for the run.
