Gave one of my precious, poll-topping Sungolds to an elderly friend who supposedly knows about how tomatoes should taste and she pronounced it "bland" (and then politely spat the skin out just to rub it in, although to be fair she could find a piece of gristle in a glass of tap water!)

Don't think there is much point running the home grown tomato survey this year - with so many tales on here of slow, blighted or botrytissed ( ::)) plants I can't see it having a very positive or useful outcome.  :(
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Our garden is now a brassica free zone and shall remain so as long as the hole in my posterior faces south! 8)

Cheers,    Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Never kneel down to weed on the grass paths bordering the plot before checking for red ants Newshoot - 'specially as you react really badly to bites and now have knees like the elephant man  ::)

Four bites on one and two on the other - ouch ouch ooohhh ouch  :(

Ooooh so right!

And remember thistles never ever stop growing in places where one's shorts are going to be deposited...

And brambles last forever too!

Never forget to label your plants and variety! Mixed some of mine up and they grew into triffids they did!!! Making more labels out of used milk bottles for next season. Also don't grow more than 1 or any courgette plants in a poly, they just take over!!!!! :D
