Just keep at it a little at a time most of us have been in the same position but you will get your rewards .
Plant as you go along. Cover an area with black plastic and leave till next year you will be suprised how easy it will be when you turn it back and all the weeds have gone just ready for turning over.
I sometimes wish I had saved a bit of the digging just to burn off some energy. I have had my plot for nine months now so this is my first full season I am having to sit on my hands waiting to get stuff planted.
As said in earlier posts we still have frosts to come so plenty of time for most crops.
Best of luck and well done so far

dig a bit, plant a bit, and dont try to rush it to much, I am on my second year now, and still only just starting to get properly organised, last year things got planted as I cleared so in no particular order, this year is pretty much the same but I am getting more organised slowly, never fret, you will get some crops at least, but you will get there, hard work pays dividends down the line.

If you've got 4 raised beds ready you've done really well, especially hearing your description of what you took on at the start.  I haven't read all the previous posts on this thread or I'd be here all day but I've seen a good page and a half of them and am glad to see there are a lot of good ideas and advice here - some of which I might use myself as I still have a lot to do on my own garden.  I really hope you don't give up as it sounds like you've started some things off including the same varieties of beetroot and onions as me :)

Hi bec, you certainly did inherit a lot of hard work there

You are doing really well in lcearing it and most of all you have something growing already--- brilliant  :D :D

Two things

1. Please will you edit your profile (clcik on your user name) to show where you are, as that will help regardingcomments about last frosts etc

2. It is not too late to plant potatoes, and they will cope with less than perfect conditions. You can weed further as you earth them up, and their foliage smothers most annual weeds quite well too

Well done for all your work in 4 weeks - that is actually going some!  And I think you have more on the go than me and you have children! amazing work - don't forget to rest and have some play time on the lottie - you know those silly jobs that don't hurt any muscles. I agree with Sunshineband - I've still got potatoes to get in on my new lottie as well.  It always feel better when you've planted something - but watch the weather.   Most of all have fun. :)

Hi.

My plot was the same when I took it over, Looking back, if I were you I'd just sort out a small area to grow some stuff now and leave the rest until winter, when everything dies back. Its less daunting and a hell of a lot easier. I know you want to get cracking but this would be my advice.

This will depend on what expectations there are for a plot from those who monitor the site.

On our site, if someone clears a relatively small proportion and then does nothing more for the rest of the year, we'd be asking questions - particularly if the uncultivated part of the plot is causing problems for neighbouring plots because it's not under control.

Another plot holder thought it was fine to leave the entire plot under plastic for a year because they'd been told it would be a good way to clear it by a gardening class they'd been to.  The advice might have been correct, but it also put them in breach of their tenancy agreement to actually do some cultivation ...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

i reckon if youve got 4 raised beds in there in 4 weeks youve done really well .youll be suprised what you can get in there.dont do to much in one go. little and often is my approach.make reachable goals for next season.my first season i only got in a bit of experimental stuff and some overwintered garlic.depends on how much free time you have i suppose.you will find your own way of doing things with the help of this site and other reasearch.sucesses and failiures are the norm you will learn from these. :)
