I would just keep them in pots until they have the first leaves showing and then plant them out, or at least put them outside. Letting them get leggy and soft is the usual reason for failure. Mice will steal them whether they are inside or out.

that's so good

Has anyone sown anything else yet?

As per other threads, "The Kelsae Onions" on the traditional day - Boxing Day and just 4 "Shirley" tomato seed as an experiment.

I may soon sow some Clapton caulis in the frost free greenhouse, as I know that works. Whilst they are club root resistant, they're not club root proof. An early sowing means I can get good strong plant before the club root has fully broken dormancy.

Everything else can wait. Start too soon, you end up with leggy plants and nowhere to put them.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I left it a bit late harvesting my broad beans last year and I had good intentions but before I could do anything, the pods got mouldy so I tossed them in the compost only to find the pods last week on top of the pile, and the beans inside starting to germinate.  So I rescued some of the sprouted beans and planted them in pots and they are nicely germinating  :D  I've left them outside as too often when keeping them sheltered in a greenhouse, they get a bit tall and the stem weak which makes it difficult to plant out later.  These are Karmazyn which are a pinky colour bean.

I'm still deciding what else to sow but I think my biggest problem at the moment is finding suitable available window sill space - I've been overwintering the chilli plants and they are doing ever so well so don't want to move them.
