Anyone have any Barbu De Watermael?
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:35 »
I am desperately trying to track down and keepers/breeders of Watermael. So far drawn a blank finding anyone with birds to sell/re home.
If anyone out there in chooky world knows of anyone or anywhere I can go please let me know!!!
I've been pointed in the direction of the Federation Show this weekend in Staffordshire but it's a bit of a treck from Milton Keynes!!  :(
1 fiance, 3 kids, 1 fish, 1 cat, 9 poland bantams, 6 Barbu de Watermael, 2 allotment plots and not enough time!

Sorry can't help with your query, but a "bit of a treck" is all relative as I don't consider a motorway hop from one side of Birmingham to the other any sort of trek! Consider that you might have to be prepared to travel a bit to get what you want.

have you tried the British Belgian Bantam Club? They will be at the show.
There was a lady in the Grantham area with them but guess that would be too far also.
I once went up to the Scottish border (west side) in the snow to get some birds I wanted - often you have to travel to get what you want I'm afraid especially for something that is out of the ordinary.
Staffies are softer than you think.

From one side of Birmingham to the other???? I live in Milton Keyens, to the Stafford show ground is 2 hours away so deffo not "just across Birmingham!" LOL. Reason I said it was a treck is because I have a disabled son so it's a major planning operation to get anywhere thats not around the corner!!  :(
Plans a-foot for The Fed Show!! Breeder in the scottish borders has been in contact, he's going to the show so I'm heading up to meet him, hurrah!! Son staying with my Mum and I will be jumping in the car and hopefully coming back with my much saught after and anticipated Watermaels! Woooo!!  :D

Yep, just a spit in the wind away for an enthusiast :)  Depernds how much you want the birds.

I've wanted little Watermaels for about 4 years but never been the right time. Now with kids a bit older and son settled in school I've got a bit more time so weh-hey the time is now right!!!  :D
All good things come to those that wait. :) :) :)
Really looking forward to having a mooch round the show and fingers crossed the birds Matt is bringing down are of goog type and they will be mine, all mine!!!
Thank you Father Christmas this year you really have granted my wish!!!!

I'm home!!! with 2 pullets, 2 hens and 2 cockerels!!! Was only after one cockbird but Matt gave me another one free because he's got a spilt comb.
So hoping they settle well and the neighbours don't mind the wee little cock-a-doodles coming from the new enclosure.
Worzel my Poland went off on one big time! He's normally a very quiet boy, can go days without crowing but within 5 mins of putting the new boys in their run it was all out 3 way crow-fest!!!  ::)
Here's hoping that after all this time of wanting Watermael that I'm not forced to give them up because I start to get complaints.  :(
