Hi,
At the Lottie today and dug this Dock root out.
The measuring stick next to it is over 125 centimetre's long and the Dock root beats it.

Also whilst digging I have come across a number of these Critters!
What are they ?

And are they harmful or beneficial to my Plot?

99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

Well I never, have always called them wireworms, and they scare the pants off me cos they move so fast.  Found loads of nests digging over an overgrown part of the garden this year - lucky I didn't dispose of them (cos I'm too scared).

I stand corrected
