[archies plot]

hi, i have just called to my plot on the way home from work, and looked at my cauliflowers and 3 of them have wilted and toppled over, they where easy to pull out of the ground and never had much root on them, any ideas what the problem may be, regards archie

Sorry Archie, not a clue.   I'm always amazed how little root system brassicas have.  If they were small seedlings I would have guessed at 'damping off' but not 'full grown jobs'.   Not a lot of help I know, but I'll be waiting for a more knowledgeable reply.   Cheers,   Tony.

That happened to us last year, turned out it was club root

    Sounds like Cabbage root fly ,sometimes when you pull the plant out of the ground the maggots stay in the ground ,get a trowel and dig the were the cauli was you may find the maggots .

hi,i have just came back from the plot i dug up the soil where the cauliflowers were i couldn't find any maggots or club root, it could be a grub, i will keep a close look out and try and find the problem, my other brassicers are doing brilliant,thanks for your help,regards archie.
