some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

I am growing the F1 variety Yuushou, as I did last year.  They were grown in modules and planted out in a cold frame.  They look exactly like the picture on the packet, (plus a few slug nibbles) and we have just started eating them. Excellent!

I have never managed to grow other varieties without them bolting.

I've transplanted mine several times at various stages of growth (shifting stuff round in the raised beds) with no probs.
Was pretty impressed that a latish sowing lasted through the winter.
At the moment I'm overrun with it so better get the wok out! (Nice as baby leaf too....)

Transplanting has been fine for me in the past.

Perhaps the "experts" meant you can't dig up and move when you thin from a seed bed?

What you (and I) do is to plant out from pots or cells which generally causes far less disturbance... hopefully.  ;)
