Broody hen
« on: March 19, 2011, 19:25 »
Hi, one of my little ladies has gone broody and I am toying with the idea of getting her some fertilized eggs.  Does anyone have any advice on the best breed to ge etc t?  I am unsure of her origins, she is black and lays pale eggs and is quite a bit smaller than my brown hens.

first of all what will you do with any cockerels that hatch?
As for what breed just choose one you like the looks of and if she is a small hen then only put 6-8 under her.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thanks, as I live in town then if I couldn't give any cocks away then they would have to be dispatched.  I was only thinking of 3-4 eggs but wasn't sure how many to expect to hatch.
