Although I live out in the sticks, I am concerned about the potential theft of my chicks, electric net and energiser. I have noticed that you can get electrified boxes to protect your energiser which I guess will also deter someone from getting at the hens as they will have trouble turning fence off.
Has anyone had a similar thought or solved the problem, have considered sitting up one night with shotgun but not sure what would happen if I did come accross anyone  :)

I've sat up with a paint-ball gun.... In fact somewhere round here is a fox with three lime green paint splashes on it!

this reminds me of a friend who kept his car in our field for a while, we heard that someone had been looking at it, so he wired the battery up to the body.
Only trouble was he forgot the next time he went to open it -

my energiser that I use for my horse is in the stable in a wooden cupboard with a lock on, I have had it like that for well over 15 years with out a problem (Oh no I said it)
I did think about getting one to protect my energiser but at around 200.00 I did'nt, and if someone wants it they will find a way to get it,
just like they did with my horse box that I thought had all the locks you could  >:( maybe I should have electrified that only joking  I did get it back thay got the box bog down in the farmers field  :) and left it
