Those lousy snails have eaten all the brassicas I had in my little poly-tent greenhouse thingy...( hmm lously snails, I'm going to purge them and then eat them - see if they like that ! )
Anyhow, the local garden centre is totally sold out of everything I was growing ( brussels, winter cabbage, purple sprouting broccolli etc etc ) and I really don't know what to do now. The whole of my in-laws were delighted with the brussels last Christmas day, and seeing as I can't germinate any parnsips, I really don't want to let them down vis-a-vis brussels.
Luckily, a kind adjacent plot holder has given me some spare purple brussels.....but in the absence of plant availability at the garden centre....is it too late to sow direct into the ground

I think you can still sow winter cabbage for planting out in august andpurple sprouting couldjust about make it as it has a long growing season and slug pellets.I have been using the growing sucess ones which have ben great even in all this rain.

Its also the right time to sow "Spring" cabbage
