infested chicken pellets

Hello , I purchased a large bag of chicken pellets from Pets at Home and when I scooped some out my hand was coverered in tiny little crawling insects (only just visible) could anyone tell me what they could be and should i dispose the rest of the pellets.

I think its a kind of lice/mite,   when i used to keep guineapigs i had a bag that was covered with crawlies.   Definately take the bag back to Pets at home, dont use it.    I think its to do with the way the bags are kept or something like that.    nickyx

They are probably flour mites which are the main pest of stored grain and feed. Do not use the feed on your chickens as it can do them harm. One good reason not to buy feed in bulk unless you can use it up in a reasonable time. I would return it to the shop and get your money back.

Take it back to the shop and don't give any to your girls.
