A black rock is a hybrid itself, so crossing with a different breed again, you could have any kind of a mixture. My understanding is that only certain breeds can be sex linked.

I crossed my RIR cockerel with my Light sussex hens as they are sex linked when they hatch the boys are all yellow and the hens come out a pale brown, so once they have dried you can tell the difference, don't know any others that are sex linked although i am sure there are others
Dont count ya chickens till they hatch!!!!!

To make a red sex-link chick, you have to put a gold/red cockerel over a silver hen.  Then the chicks are boys = yellow, girls = buff.

To make black sex-links (and a black rock is a black sex-linked chicken) you want a gold/red cockerel on a barred hen.  The pullets will be black (and grow up to be plack with rold neck feathers) and the cockerals will have a yellow spot on their heads (and grow up to be barred (similar to cuckoo).

If only it was that easy all the time!  I still stand out there and watch the 7 x 19 week old  Lavendar Araucanas and say that ones a boy, that ones a girl, no its a boy!  Unfortunately none of them are crowing yet!  I THINK I've got 6 boys and 1 girl left, but a few weeks ago I sold a 12 week old LS to a lady, we both thought it was a girl, thin legs, small comb etc, but she phoned me recently to say that she'd had to change its name from Pearl to Luke!!!
