Raspberry querie
« on: July 11, 2010, 12:44 »
hi, i just inherited a raspberry bush which was left over from the previous allotment tenant and i am not sure which type it is.
i believe one type you prune fully back the other you prune only old stems back.
it is fruiting now with loverly long red raspberries.

The only thing you need to know - is to prune back the stems that have already fruited.

So once you have picked all the rasps, prune that stem down. I do it as I go....

Does sound like a summer-fruiting rasp. Mine are just coming into harvest now. Do as Zazen999 said but you could always leave a cane or two unpruned and see what happens next year.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
