I've got wilkos Maris Peer that are cracking along.   :)  The PJs on the other hand are slower than expected ....     But I think they might be at the colder end of the bed.  More sun but also more exposed.

If it were me, and I was unable to come up with a cause, I think I would drop into Wilko and let them know. Perhaps others have had the same experience this year.

On the other hand - check to see how others around you did with their spuds if they were planted at a similar time and in similar conditions.

As I said I have another bed of earlys, seconds and even some of last years eaters saved, and they are all doing great.

But just the Wilkos that have gone to mush.

Will call in and see them, but what can they do?

Oh well, as I said gives me chnace to test out the new 350, and I am also lucky to have another bed allready for my salad crops etc, that has never had spuds in so will plant in there, and then put salads in where wilkos spuds where

Sorry... missed the bit where you said you had other spuds in and doing nicely.

Let us know how you get on with the Howard!!  ;)

Bought all my spuds from Wilkos and planted them on Good Friday and all but my first earlies are showing and earthed up. :)

I planted Wilko's rocket seed potatoes.  They are growing really well. Watching out for frost though.

Potato seed will rot in the ground if the soil is too wet and cold when you plant them.

I've just planted out some of the last potatoes left in Wilko's. Arran Pilot. I was really chuffed to have found them in the nick of time as my usual supplier had finished selling spuds, and they were the one variety I hadn't managed to get hold of and didn't have any left from last years either. They sat in the net in the carrier bag for well over a week, and were still fine, apart from some of the chits getting caught in the mesh, so I would suspect your local conditions are responsible.
I mean, if they don't rot sat in a plastic bag in the kitchen, I doubt that they're going to rot for no reason in the garden.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

Got my Maris Pipers from Wilko's.  They chitted up a treat and are now romping away in the ground.  Three rows sown ,and all have come up.
