Not strictly this topic, but per week, roughly what is Healthy - Not Healthy number of eggs to eat, for us humans ??  My son reckoned he was getting 120+ / week, selling 50....and our family of 4 are eating the rest....

Generally, current advice is that 3-4 eggs per week is alright from a cholesterol point of view although it is surprising what products we eat that also contain eggs. As long as they are part of a healthy diet and plenty of exercise is taken the absolute number probably is not important.
Hope that helps

I believe that at the moment the current view is that we should be trying to cut down on 'bad' cholesterol which is produced in the body when we consume foods high in saturated fats - ie fatty meat, dairy products. Losing excess weight , exercising and eathing a low-fat diet are the ways to lower cholesterol or avoid having a raised level.

Foods such as eggs and prawns which have high dietary cholesterol are not a problem as they contribute to the 'good' cholesterol levels in the body. I think I also read somewhere that eggs from backyard chickens generally have lower cholesterol because of their diet/lifestyle anyway.

Have a look at this link - or just search for 'dietary cholesterol' - there's loads of info out there:

My feeling is that eggs are packed with good nutrition, and if we keep our own chickens, we know exactly what what they are being fed with, and that they are kept in humane conditions.

We are a family of 3 and we probably get through about 20 a week as main meals, snacks and in baking.

Thanks, much comfort from what you say, because we all enjoy our "eggs" for cooking, meals, etc....but are running probably 20-30 / week.  Will check out the good & bad cholesterol.
