Why is it that cucumbers can be so difficult and yet courgettes keep on giving...and giving....and giving?

indoor cues are a bit sulky and can drop down dead if given too much water but the outdoor ones don't seem half as temperamental

I watered mine yesterday in the greenhouse and noticed one this morning was looking a bit floppy  :(  There were only four measly seeds in the packet two and they cost £2.50  Hardly any room for error there  >:(

You tell 'em Basil! (sorry, sclarke624!)

I keep trying but I don't know why; have grown them in a cold frame and they sort of produced before turning into crisps (red spider mite, I suspect) and outdoors I am lucky if the first lot survives so the second batch tends to run out of time.........

This year of course will be different because we are going to have a cucumber-friendly summer, aren't we?  :nowink:
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Leeks & Parsnips & New Potatoes for me.  Both cost a fortune in the shops, taste nothing like you get home grown, and store (either left in the ground - or bagged up) for ages.

Anything I can fit into my little space! Wouldn't grow it if I didn't love it!
