2nd year after advice
« on: April 13, 2010, 17:12 »
well this is my 2nd term of owning my plot and this year i have less weeds to care for and can grow some stuff :)
if i buy some cabbage plants etc can they just go straight in the ground and should i cover them.
also runner beans can the seeds be planted direct into the ground. am assuming they can after all our ancestors managed with less than we have now :)

It'll be summer cabbage if you are buying now, and should be fully hardy, once they get used to outside conditions.....can you cover with fleece at night for a few days?

Runner beans can go straight into the ground but you have to leave it till a week or so before your estimated last frost date. If they come up and frost is forecast again, then it's out with the fleece again
