Hi - Newbie Kev here.
Bit of advice needed - Just turned over an weeded the first section of my new plot today - looking at the other posts, they say I can plant winter onions and garlic - are these seeds or bulbs? - Would i need any other preparation done to the soil before planting - Appologies if this is dumb question, but this is all new to me - Many thanks lads and lasses !

Garlic and winter onions are the small cloves from a garlic bulb and sets of onions. Ok still for garlic up until about March, but may be a bit late to find the winter onion sets, you usually plant them in september/october...but have a look around.
I don't think you have to do much before planting, just the usual weeding

Hi KJW,
welcome to the site, you are not too far away from me.
You could also plant broad beans now as they overwinter well, especially the Aquadulce Claudia (I think that is how it is spelt!) variety.  You could do these from seeds now.
