like caralou i went base over apex this evening, with an egg in pocket! (there is one Welsummer girlie,June, who lays just before bed!). Only the egg and my pride injured. The girls are huddled together, wet, but appear warm enough. Just a suggestion, but make sure there is PLENTY of draft free ventilation, (i sometimes leave the roof a little ajar) because all that moisture has to go somewhere as they dry off. ::)

?wondering if i can extend my tumble drier outlet hose to the bottom of my garden for them, that sounded so good!

::) It is getting to be a habit now , caught them doing it again today when they wee perfectly dry, reminded me a little of that film with Marilyn Munroe standing over the vent which blew her skirt up  ;)

I have covered the top of my coop with blue plastic membrane from the builders yard, but I don't want to do it down the sides as I can't then see if the girlies are safe.  Am going to try freecycle and see if anyone has some corrugated acrylic/plastic that I can screw to the sides of the coop, if not Wickes do some.  Trouble is I like to move the coop around the garden, and this would make it much harder to dismantle.  Do worry about them though when its driving rain and wind they look so bedraggled. alison
