Mutant Beans
« on: September 11, 2009, 19:00 »
Having previously sucessfully crossed a pumpkin with a marrow without trying, I seem to have do it again with my beans.

I saved some seeds of a dwarf French bean called "Purple Teepee", but it seems as though my "Enorma" runners have snuck in there whilst I wasn't looking.

One of the plants has come out initially looking like a normal runner bean but produces shorter purple pods. Sadly the harvest is not a lot to write home about, the offspring does not seem to have picked up the length of "Enorma" as one of it's properties.

My normal "Purple Teepee"

"Purple Teenorma"

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Nature's currently ambling all over my plot as it's got no canes to climb up!
