Netting Sprouts

Probably a stupid question... but forgive me it's late.....

Do you net your sprouts for their entire lifespan or just while they're young?

It'll take an awful lot of netting and expense to keep them covered to full height ... I'm sure I've not seen anyone on my site do it.

What do you do?  :)

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.

I could give up chocolate but I'm not a quitter.

Entire for me, but no expertise needed just enough netting - from day one

My bed is 14ft (approx) and 4/5ft.   We've netted to a four foot height with debris netting, blue water pipe and tent pegs. Expense was involved of course, but its cost me in total ££80. Thats all my brassicas this year and many more to come. I lost enough last year to know whats false or not economy on my plot

Ask about on your site

Likewise have to net them all the time, otherwise they end up like skeletons and those delicious sprout tops disappear in a day!

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I netted my row of sprouts on friday. I checked under every leaf to make sure there were no eggs or caterpillars.  When I went down to do some watering on saturday, what should be flapping around inside the net but a cabbage white butterfly!
Doh.
