Snails in garlic butter are quite nce if you can forget what they actually are... no different than eating whelks or mussels.

BUT

They have to be special snails!  I couldn't contemplate eating garden snails lol

After all of the above "eggy fried bread with strawberries" doesn't sound too bad!

You could always put the eggy fried bread on one side of the plate and eat that first then eat the strawberries.

Alternatively isn't it polite (not that I am) to leave something on your plate - you could always leave the eggy fried bread and just eat the strawberries :D

I tried it too.  Getting a bit of a glut of strawbs at the mo (no bad thing).  Just like a pancake really.  I did use balsamic instead of the cider vinegar that Hugh used!  I would have it again!

I thought he had eggy bread with masserated strabs that he made earlier - aren't they a savoury dish? Gonna have to watch it a third time lol

apparently garden snails are very good - some people think they're better than the Roman snail the french eat.  hugh didn't make the slugs work though....just too bitter and hard...

Glad Hugh mentioned strawberries with black pepper.
I tell everyone to try it and they look at me as if I'm barking.
But when I force them to try, they all agree the black pepper really brings out the strawberry flavour.
Used to use the "drink with your mouth" at beer festivals when customers complained their beer was a bit cloudy.
I started out with nothing.....and I've still got most of it.

i've just watched it - think it looks like a great idea - makes it more like a chunky chutney, doesn't it!

i really really can't believe he prefers raspberry jam to strawberrry - got to have a few screws loose....
