Hi all        Is it ok to use  cardboard  collars   to help  combat root fly.  around  cabbages etc.  Michael

its my first year of growing them, but I read somewhere on the web that cardboard can be used, but obviously will get soggy and may need to be weighted down. I think whatever I read, suggested doing the collar in effectively two halves, so that you slip one side on firat, then the other which goes over the top of it to completely encase the soil around the base of the plant - thats what I'll be trying....unless anyone else on here suggests a better idea ;)
