Over the weekend I've allowed the chicks (7weeks old) to range about the garden.  Other than Onion being a noisy so-and-so there's been no problems between the chicks and the pullets (the chicks aren't that much smaller then the pullets), but... the chicks are eating the pullets layers mash and the pullets are eating the chick/grower crumbles.

Other than that there has been no other issues.  The chicks managed to put themselves to bed in the correct coop, as did the pullets (they are housed separately for now).

The layers pellets won't be detrimental to the chicks will it?

I'm sure someone more qualified will be along soon but as soon as my chicks go out they're on the layers now because I can't be keeping them seperate.  Really they should go onto growers pellets but it's impossible to police!

tomorrow test your chickens intelligence put the layers pellets into the chicks feeding dish and put the growers crumb into the hens feeding dish see which one they will eat from then
