Thanks

I think member johnnytinslecat is growing some hops - there were a series of posts about this earlier in the year.

Try using the search facility using hops and johnny's member name, that may reveal the relevant posts.

P.S. As this is about growing, not the making of the homebrew, I'll pop this thread over to the Grow Your Own forum, where more growers may see it

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hello,

I've got one, had it for a few years now and grow it really for decorative purposes.  You get the lovely hops on the plant when most other climbers have finished flowering.

I think i bought it from a garden centre but can't really remember now.  They are a perennial so they make lots of new growth in the spring/summer and then die back over winter. Once the hops are past their best - display wise, you just cut it right back to soil level.

Mine is in a big pot and trained up a south-easterly wall where it gets plenty of sunshine.  Ohter than that I don't do much to it maintenance-wise. Plenty of water, a drop of tomato food or whatever I have around and bob's your uncle.

I've got a golden hop which is purely ornamental but still a vigorous grower.

If you can find someone with a hop you could beg a cutting in early spring, new shoots cut just below ground level will root easily

hi, as posted before i got some this year.

the one plant is going really well, its astonishing how much it can grow in a day! the other is really lagging - in fact its not really doing anything!

the goulding is about 5 foot tall now, and needs potting on - i'm racking my brain as to a system i can use for it to grow upon. i may have to anchor an eye to the house and get a wire for it to run on.

these things can apparently grow up to 15m in one season!!!!!

if you need anything more drop me a PM
