The Vegetarian Society's "National Vegetarian Week" starts today 18th May. Its a bit early for lots of home grown veg to celebrate with. Should we have a "National Home Grown Veggie Week" later in the year to celebrate our efforts? Wee

I like the idea of linking to the harvest festival, only problem is my birthday is last week of september and I wouldn't want to rule meat out then. So I would sooner do it first week in october
An early "Happy Birthday" for then - guess I'm just suggesting a celebration for home grown veggies here, not permanent abstention. I'm not veggie, but love and am growing my own now, so why not celebrate??! We all work hard enough at it...thats the difference  :D

Being serious (Although meat eating is very serious for me) I would also go with the harvest festival, it has always been about farming and cottaging/food gardening in most parts of the country and has very little to do with religion (They nicked a perfectly good pagan ceremony again).

Lets take it back!!!!

I love Veg, but only if it goes with meat. I think I would give up veg if it didn't have something to go with  ::)

Cheers Bob - not asking anyone to give up meat (I'm not a veggie), just love my veggies and think we all work hard enough at it and should celebrate it  :D
But National Veggie week promotes vegetable options to a wider market, so lets go with the flow, and if we're growin' it too - even better - we know where its come from and what's been on it (most of the time [save the crawlies overnight]), so great food, traceability, money saved in our pockets, not alot of bloodshed along the way.... I'm advocating a National Home Grown Veggie Week ... You posted inbetween time Bob .... Yep we want out veggie rights back ...the momentum is there to build on

Not sure I want to SG6... all those cute little things

Please suggest another week, or perhaps celebrate your duckling pie with home grown veg anyway  :)

I actually put "duckling pie" and "recipe" in.
A moment of boredom at work  ??? ??? ??? ???

None, not one recipe appeared. :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2:

Last year a mum with 3 ducklings was determined that anything she considered too close was going to get it.  >:( This was other ducks, other ducklings, oh and me when walking past some 6 ft away. The other feathered things had enough sense to stay away. I wasn't even close but as I couldn't fly away I was a target. ::) ::) ::)

I wasn't even carrying a can of mandarin oranges

And there was i thinking those cute, fluffy, cuddley, waddly, quacky little things that swam straight after mummy until they flew the nest (or were turfted out) were put in a pie...

Home grown veggie option surely for one meal
