Results! Thanks to all for help and advice
« on: May 07, 2009, 12:28 »
All my four girls are now on lay, and here's a typical day's output.

Aren't they pretty? The egg at 12 is from a Warren, at 3 from a Bovans Nera, at 5 from a Skyline Cream Legbar hybrid, and at 8 from a Light Sussex (biggest chicken, most noise, littlest eggs!!!).

Thanks to you all for your help and advice.

Talking of blue ones, which I would love, anyone know of a breeder that does Fenton Blue hybrid POLs?

Our blue-egg laying Skyline hybrid came from Southmead poultry in Leatherhead, whom I strongly recommend. She is obviously developed from an Araucana, with a tall carriage and a mad little head crest - see portrait below. Her hybrid type have a 70% chance of laying blue eggs and we got lucky!

I want blue eggs too! My blue egg laying duck lays shell-less eggs! :tongue2: Hope for green eggs with my new ducklings though. A while to wait though!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

That blue one really is blue!  It's beautiful.  I AM jealous though, as only three of my four are laying.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!
