We use bird sand from the pet shop and louse powder mixed in our girls go mad for it but it only lasts for a couple of hours before they empty it need to build a box to put it in

I have found a great bath for them... a small pet animal 'toilet' it is a plastic corner shaped scoop type thing!!  From pets at home and it even has small holes at the top to attach it to the side of your run!

I made our last flock a dustbath at the end of the big henhouse, but they didn't really use it much.  Preferring the area I made them at the far end of the run under a sheet of polycarbonate which was on top of an old nursery barrow, but the new chicks love it.  I just put builders sand in it. 

Even soil if its nice and dry.  Like the other year whe winter was very wet, we gve them the whole polytunnel!!!! lol
