netting for my peas
« on: April 16, 2009, 11:43 »
Should I just get anti bird netting? or is there a netting that will keep the pea moth off to avoid me spraying (or is this prohibitivley ££££)?

If bird netting, what size 'oles do I need?  some sites have bird netting with as big as 17mm holes others a lot smaller?

Promise, last question for today (maybe)

You'd need fleece to keep pea moth off.

As for birds the mesh should obviously be as small as the smallest bird you want to keep off! :tongue2:
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Dunno how big birds come? :tongue2:     As the netting would be quite close to the peas, can't the birds just stick their beaks through and steal the peas anyway?

I really am sounding blonde today!

Yes, but you arrange support posts to keep the net away from the peas!

Have a look on this thread for ideas

how to hold up netting

thanks both. I do hope my husbands work of the weekend wasn't in vain.  He has pu two rows of 3' wooden battons about 10" apart and threaded wire through each one to help support the peas, I was hoping to just throw netting over this.

I suppose I could use debris netting rather than bird netting then hopefully they wouldn't get their beaks through??!
