fleece up every time - i use micro-fleece its more durable than the bog standard one - we have to cover most stuff on our lottie with cages, netting, wire etc... because of marauding animals etc..... i saw a dog fox on our lottie last week, looked more like a wolf!

Agree with cooperman about fleece.
I fleeced mine as soon as I'd sown them last year and kept them covered. Had a brilliant crop, so doing them the same way this year. I was still harvesting them last month  :)

I used a barrier & still digging mine.

However, this year I've acquired some blue water pipe cheap and will probably use that with a very fine mesh over it.

Don't forget that carrot fly also attack parsnips & this lets canker in. It's worth including your 'snips with your carrots in any defence.

I have a row of Early Nantes and spring onions under fleece, a trough of Little Finger under fleece in the greenhouse, and a huge tub of Creme de Lite under an old window pane up on a wooden bench. Not taking any chances.

Good point about snips - I'll fleece those as well if they germinate. Should I do the same for Hamburg parsley?
