Is a 40 litre tub too big for a tomato plant?
« on: March 21, 2009, 14:11 »
Mmm???

I have a few of those green builders tubs from B & Q and just wondered if there would be a problem using such a  big containers for one of my tomato plants.

Thanks xx

Not a problem, but a waste of space.

Why not put more than one plant in it?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Do you mean another  tomato plant or something else?

I was thinking about planting something else at the base of the plant , ......................not got any ideas yet though

You could do that, but I was thinking more in terms of 3 or so plants being a tomato lover!

Im with Dave, tom plants are fussy beggars and need some care so it will be easier to take care of all your tom plants in one place too

If I've got pot planted toms at home I smother the pot with parsley plants, which are not only useful as a herb in the kitchen, but also as emergency 'henny greens'.
