We have four chickens and for the past few months we have only been getting one egg a day instead of four can anyone tell us why this is please...

Laying is  mainly dictated by the amount of light a bird is getting. As winter approaches laying decreases and usually mid to late February it starts to pick up again as the days get longer and warmer.
This does vary slightly due to age and breed. First year hybrids will continue to lay well through their first winter, whereas in their second winter will virtually stop apart from the odd egg perhaps.
Pure breeds take a little longer to kick start their laying in the spring.

We have 1 black rock, 2 light sussex and 1 bantum, which breed is the best for laying?

hi, if they are around the same age I would say your black rock, followed closely by the light sussex

My light sussex girls haven't laid for about 3 months now - starting to look like they might be thinking about considering to lay again soon
Hopefully spring is on its way and we'll all get more eggs soon
