Not a gardening tip (well could help)

This is probably more for the ladies out there.  Do you ever chop the end off a tube of cream when it is ´empty´?  I had a Ulay cream and could not squeeze another drop out of the tube (pump type) and when I managed to take the pump top off there was loads still left inside, infact I took the top off about 2 months ago and I´m still using what was left, even though the tube appeared to be empty :D
My friend had some sun cream for her face and the tube was ´empty´ so I said cut the top off, she did and was still using the cream a month later :D

What a brilliant tip! Creams are often really expensive, so if this helps to save a few pennys, I'm all for it! Thanks  :D

I sometmes do that too Pamela, and cover the top over with a little cling film so the cream doesn't go dry!

I do it with my tomato puree tubes too!  Although that only gives me enough for one more pasta sauce!!

My wife was throwing out a toothpaste tube, I grabbed it and it lasted me over a month (there wasn't much left in there when I threw it out).

My wife throws the toothpast tubes out when they're still half full! (well, nearly).  I go back into the bin, fish them out, cut the end off and use them.  We usually have two tubes on the go at once.  I can't understand it.

I love these types of tips - for years my friends have laughed at my so called "cheapness" - now the credit crunch has hit, they are starting to copy me - who's laughing now eh?! - no longer the weirdo, suddenly I'm "trendy"
I've done this cutting up tubes for years - also cut up shampoo bottles, washing liquid etc.  break the plastic shells of lipsticks - there is usually another 1/2 a lipstick underneath - use a brush to apply it.  Another tip - especially with a family - squash toilet rolls before putting them on the holder - they don't spin so freely, using much less paper (useful if your kids just pull sharply and take the 3 meters of toilet roll which has unwound!)
