When you grow veggies you get flower heads (maybe tumours if thats what they grow from) and from flower heads you get seeds so you dont realy have to buy them

Ahh, yes beetrootboy ...  A lot of gardeners do save seeds and tubours and take cuttings and it's a very good idea which saves money.

You can't save seed from F1 hybrids though because they won't grow the same as the original ones (difficult science thing there bb).

And sometimes saving things from one year to the next can carry diseases over to your new crop.  So simetimes it is best to start again with fresh stuff. :D

One advantage of saving your own seed is that they have become acclimatised to your soil and conditions. My father always used once grown potatoes, he firmly believed that Scottish seed were grown in a better soil than we had.

Monsanto (the *) want to keep everyone dependant on them as the worlds largest seed supplier with F1 hybrids. So it is difficult, so it is good to have heritage variates and like DD has done quite admirably kept going.

I am with you on the anti-Monsanto thing

If you don't want F1 hybrids, try this Real Seeds (Not F1)
