sorry if chicks are not to well cos one of mine has had it for a few days now and just had to do the best thing for her this morning first time for me did not like doing it . POOR THING but it was for best .

As you said sometimes it's the best thing to do, hepls to keep sickness from spreading to the rest of the flock and no it is never easy.
 I still dread having to cull birds and I have been raising them for over twenty years.
