Cold/chicks

The weather is forecast to turn much colder over the weekend in my area, even a chance of slight frost.At the same time i have chicks due to hatch do you think the mother will be able to keep them warm enough.

She should do Bill, that's her chosen profession. Just make sure her accomodation is nice and cosy and without drafts for her.

Thank's aunty,she's got plenty of straw in a good dry pen.the pen sits about 12 inches off the ground (to stop rats living under it)with a ladder,will the chicks cope with this or should i lower it.

worry not i have had them sitting in with snow all around in the same residence .to protect her even more from front draughts just put a board in the entrance and shut her up till the bad weather goes or cover the sides and top with a tarp
