Books to get me started!
« on: June 19, 2008, 22:00 »
Any advice on good books to get me started "Grown me own"

Think I'm gonna opt for raised beds. Unless anyone has reasons not to. And since I'm totally new is there anything I could plant this year like salad foods to get my taste buds truely wetted for next year. Or am I abit late for sowin.

Told ya I was new to Grown me own
Cheers,

Paula

I'd have a look at Johns book, it's well written and easy to understand and follow It's on the home page but heres a link after that borrow from the library. The readers digest did a book called "food from your garden" good if you can get hold of it.

Hi

In my opinion the best book to buy is Vegetable growing month by month by that nice guy John Harrison!
It has answered all my questions so far and is an excellent read.

my fave, apart from John's, is Joy Larkcom's Vegetable Growing book. I think it's a must-read book for veggie growers everywhere  :D

Have not read John's book however I have a copy of Carol Klein's book and it has been a fantastic read and helped me in my first year. It goes into a lot of detail on each veg and is not as rushed through as other books I have seen.
