march 2008, rotavated and manured.bean tunnel under construction and brassica cages to protect from the conie and the blue mist!

may 2008, after lots of work the crops are comming on well and as yet no pest attacks on the brassicas, which thanks to some nitrogen have done wonders!

of some intrest are my perspex closhes, they were in a skip and started life as magazine racks in woolworths!

ive totally run out of space with 2 allotments and so ive borrowed a bit of the adjoining field for courgettes, marrows and pumpkins! no room for the sweetcorn or spinach!!

and my plot 1 is doing fine, with tatties and beans going from strength to strength,as is last year chardwich has cropped all winter and makes an appearance on the dinner table several times a week!

thanks guys and gals, the allotments make a major contribution to our low income, providing 70+% of our veg needs in the year. the introduction of the woven weed supressant has helped no end, allowing the veg to grow unhindered and allowing me time to do other stuff instead of hoeing!
tuesday i will be buying more to create my purple sprouting cage on the other side of the jerusalem artichokes, ive got about 30 plants to go in.

I particularly like the idea with the weed suppressant fabric cut into strips, Must double it's coverage, is it held down with canes and tent pegs ? I hardly ever get round to hoeing regularly just when it gets desperate, time Ltd these days
