It would be better if someone had a spare shed to keep them in, but Munty and Aggy marked their little wanderer braveheart with a marker pen, or you could buy leg rings.

But its whether they'd get on with strange hens if they were in together.

Wish I could come and camp in the garden.  :(

I like Yorkshire. Could have some lovely days out from there.

And it's a long time since I was at Drax !

Shame I don't live nearer; I'd glady check on them daily

Good luck with finding someone... I hope the reason for the trip is worth the worry and stress!

Zak, lots of great advice. You must be very upset having to leave them.   When our friends go away, they take their hens, run etc to her sister.

Do hope you find a solution as I agree leaving them is not really a good idea. Anything could happen and re-water...what if it got knocked over...3 days without water?   Really they should have fresh water daily , mine wouldn't touch 3 day old water!

Send them over here...I'll meet them from the plane/boat and return them when you're back!!

Good luck with sorting out something,

hi,i will be leaving my chickens for a week but will only be getting them checked once a day so they wont be shut in at night.the run is 7feet wood panels high and i,m going to put some sort of netting over the top.we had bunnies in there before chicks and they were never shut in and to the outside of our garden is another two very high fences as there is a apartment block behind and to side of us.do you think this will be ok??i could get them taken to my friends but then they would have to stay in the little run next to their coop which is too small hence the big run .i,m going to get a motion sensor light fitted as well.

we have left ours in their run with coop door open and neighbours checking them once a day. Neighbours are more than happy to do it as they love our multicoloured bantam eggs! They were fine - we made sure there was extra food and water in there for them to be sure though.

Hopefully you will find someone to look to them each day, you must be feeling pretty worried about them, have you looked in the local shops for a pet sitter, or down the allottments?
