Intercropping broad beans
« on: November 04, 2022, 20:31 »
Good evening everyone,
well, the're up.  The broad beans that is and now I can see where they are what can I intercrop?  Spuds came out prior but that was before spreading a good 6"-8" of horse muck and we have had evidence of onion white rot (but that was in ground now covered with 'orse muck).  Should we chance it and how do onions do in the afforementioned 'odd muck'.  Do you notice a thread running through this queary?

Cheers,  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

I don't know about onions, but I'm intercropping some tatsoi (sometimes called spinach mustard or spoon mustard). We'll see how it goes.

I wouldn't chance any onions in there to be honest.  The spores remain dormant until they find onion roots and then the fact that there's onions starts the whole cycle again.

I'd maybe interplant with some winter lettuce, but I'd put plants in not seeds
