A very sad day for GG.
« on: March 24, 2020, 13:41 »
Owing to the wet weather we experienced over this last winter our goose and hen pen looked like the Battle of the Somme. As we're in the process of moving house sometime soon (???) my OH had no choice but to put our geese down because we couldn't find anyone who wanted them. At least they had a good life so what more can one say.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I can imagine the problems of rehoming geese. They aren't small and cuddly and picturesque. They are something you grow into. Not everyone wants something as large and territorial as geese. But once you have lived with them - well you are marked as different to most of the population.

Pea fowl and goats are as much trouble to give away.

At least I have my beautiful Lladro geese ornaments to remind me of those times when I was able to stroke the neck and back of our first gander we called Gordon. All was fine until he was doing his Valentine's Day thingy. Cue a very irate gander who ran after me when I was putting his food down so I had to run the full length of our goose pen with his beak firmly attached to my gluteus maximus.

Sorry to hear that GG  :(
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
