allotments clean up
« on: August 29, 2019, 17:34 »
after we pulled up all our onions broad beans and some other veg the ground looked quite untidy with weeds emerging like mustard and cress we are already blessed with red shank so I took it upon myself to spray the area of weeds with roundup and its certainly made things quite tidy

because its going to be some time for i get round to poughing the ground for winter but although roundup  hase killed of all the weeds on the plot   i suspect weeds will still come back next season on the same plot but hopefully not as many  :D

We've been inundated with willow herb on the site this year. Surprisingly it's not something we normally suffer with but I guess it's come in with the numerous deliveries of manure....

Willow herb is like dandelions, blows in on the wind. Used to live opposite a bank of willow herb and on a windy day it blew everywhere in spectacular clouds.
